Several other terms to shafting are turned ground, polished ground shafting, and precision ground shafting. Polish shafts are round bars that are turned and ground to specific diameters. They are high in precision and quality in finish. In order to attain the high level of precision as promised, we undergo a process called “turned, ground and polished” which, as the name suggests, involves three significant steps that transform a coarse metal rod which was roughly dimensioned, into a shaft that guarantees a smooth finish. Shafting is widely utilized within the industry for bearings, pistons, and even in hydraulic cylinders.
