Oxy-Cutting Advantages and Disadvantages 

With oxy-fuel cutting applications, fuel gas and oxygen are often used to produce cutting flame. Oh Tung Sang supplies a plethora of gases including acetylene, MAPP, propane, and natural gas, and other information pertaining to your specific requirements. 

Advantages : 

• Straight-edge quality and high accuracy

• Bevel strip cutting.

• Pierce mild steel up to about 4 inches to 5 inches thick.

• Edge start and cut steel around 10 inches to 12 inches thick.

• With multiple torches involved, it is apt to produce multiple parts hence reducing time and labour. 

Disadvantages 

• Unable to cut stainless steel under normal conditions.

• Slower cut speeds compared to plasma cutting.

• Thin material cutting that is likely to warp.

• Tough to create holes two times smaller than the thickness of steel.
